Welcome to the **Deep Web** campaign wiki! **Deep Web** is set in the world of **Thaumos**, a realm still recovering from the destructive end of [[The Mythic Age]]. Hundreds of years ago, **Thaumos** was a typical fantasy realm, inhabited by sorcerors, elves, daemons, and dragons. But the creation and rapid development of **advanced technology** led to a century-long conflict between ideologies, and then [[The Mortal Age#The Big Day|a destructive climax]] which ushered in [[The Mortal Age]], where mages and technocrats alike are forced to live side-by-side in a time where *97%* of the world is hostile to all life. It's impossible for sunlight to pierce the [[The Black|thick cloud of debris]] orbiting the planet, and a [[The Web|supercharged arcane fog]] coating the surface kills any unprotected life within minutes. Within the fog, unleashed daemon lords and rampant AI fight [[The Mortal Age#The Vulture War|an endless battle]] over the surface, while [[Corporations|corporations]] compete for dominance within the few cities that survived, and in some cases came to prosper after, the events of [[The Mortal Age#The Big Day|The Big Day]]. The campaign is set in [[Edorest City]], one of the largest remaining bastions of civilization, a towering urban hive that looms over the surrounding miasma, living off the ingenuity of its occupants and the tribute of distant mountain colonies. [[Edorest City|Edorest]] is home to millions, with most citizens packed together into cramped neighborhoods, working long hours under exploitative employers to scrounge together the [[Labor Credits|bells]] to pay for artificial foods and tiny apartments. Technology and magic have come together to accomplish all manner of incredible things, from [[SoIL|floating megafarms]] capable of feeding millions with no natural soil to [[Augmentations|augmentations]] that allow even those with no natural magic to function as a deadly [[Magic|warlock]], but most common folk have access to little more than cheap [[Daily Life#Fashion|cosmetics]] or [[Daily Life#Entertainment|entertainments]] to keep them placated. **The Party** begins as a little-known gang operating out of [[Satellite Rain]], a district of [[The Waste]] which processes and contains most of the huge amounts of waste generated by the rest of the city. An opportunistic looting job goes awry, drawing **potentially lethal attentions** onto themselves. Articles can be found on the sidebar to the **left**.
